Belgium is one of the European countries that uses the most pesticides and chemical fertilisers.
The impact on farmers' health, and also on product quality, is a cause for concern.
So there's plenty of room for improvement, especially as the future of organic farming looks promising.
In 2022, a representative sample of the Belgian population was questioned about organic practices:
- 62% were aware of the existence of the European label
- 63% were aware of the principles of the European label
- Even more promising, 59% said they intended to consume organic products in the future!
